Dear Fans,

E |
normous appreciation is extended to all the attendees of the fabulous Garfest 2008 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
We enjoyed so much meeting the newcomers and again sharing time with many of our “old faithfuls” who have made all or most of ten years of conventions!
With a nice hotel and pretty decent weather to enjoy outstanding visits and entertainment in the beautiful Smokey Mountains, we must thank our hosts, Nancy and Manny Vega. At the great stampede, most attendees enjoyed a four-course meal; however, Garfield made his a five-course when he stole someone’s pork loin and biscuit before the show! At the auction, congratulations go to all those who took some risks in bidding and acquired some GREAT ORANGE. The auctioneer, J. P. Miller, was a riot and really knew how to work a crowd! Proceeds from the convention auction were donated to two charities: Sevier County Humane Society, Sevierville, TN, and the Smokey Mountain Children’s Home for $500.00 each. The Smokey Mountain Children’s Home donation was made in honor of our auctioneer who is a volunteer at the facility.
Needless to say, we are thrilled that Neil and Sherri Greer from PAWS, Inc. took time from their hectic schedules to attend our event. Also, it was a wonderful treat to see Doc and Linda Davis, who are enjoying their retirement and came back to see all their friends and admirers at this year’s gathering!
Now
we are planning for the Garfield Gathering, June 25-28, 2009, San Antonio,
Texas, hosted by Stuart and Ronanne Harrison. San
Antonio on the river, a mix of ‘Texas-sized’ landmarks to include The Alamo
and River Walk, is a great place for all ages.
My visit there years ago left indelible memories.
The city is a blend of cultural and historical influences brought forth
from Spain, Germany, Mexico, Native Americans, The Old West, and The Deep South
– so fun and educational! Check
out the website: www.visitsanantonio.com.
With respect to the official convention theme, Nancy Vega is working with
PAWS for ideas and available Garfield logo images.
Registration and table reservations can be made on Nancy Vega’s website with credit card payment accepted when available later this year. With all the burdens everyone has endured with an unstable economy, we deserve a break and should look forward to some fun and adventure with good friends and fans at Garfest 2009! The unique City of San Antonio offers the best cultural institutions, events, restaurants and nightlife in south Texas. This is an opportunity of a life time….so don’t miss out! We look forward to seeing you! Updates on the convention will be available at the following websites: www.nancysplushtoys.com, www.garfieldconvention.net, www.garfieldgathering.com.
